Scripture for the day: “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.” 2 Timothy 1:9
Grace Received: I’ve been soaking in 2 Timothy 1:8-9 the last couple days. Paul’s words to the young leader Timothy remind us all that God’s salvation and call to holiness is sheer grace. We did not earn our salvation. We cannot work our way to holiness. It is all gift, evidence of God’s kindness and empowerment which is at the same time humbling and cause for gratitude. God’s purpose does not end with our forgiveness. It includes but goes beyond that. His purpose is to restore us, make us whole and holy – his call stops at nothing short of holiness which is in a word, Christlikeness. God’s desire is to make us like Jesus. That’s what God intends. That’s what God expects. That’s what God’s grace makes possible.
In preparation for Easter baptisms we will have a baptism class on Wednesday, March 18 at 7:15pm. Let me know if you are interested in attending –pastorsteve@clarksvillegrace.
Grace Shared: This Saturday from 6-9pm is Parents Night Out. This is one of the ways we encourage our married folk to keep investing in their relationship. The demands of life and kids can take a toll on our time with each other so make plans now for a date night this Saturday. It can also be a time to invest in relationships with those not (yet) a part of Grace so if there is another family you’ve been praying for and reaching out to, have them bring their kids too!
Grace Extended: It’s hard to believe that in just a few weeks it will be Easter (April 5). This is a great opportunity to reach out to your co-workers, friends, and neighbors who are not connected with any other church (studies say 87% of our community is unchurched). We will have 3 services on Easter – 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00. Plan now to bring someone with you. Pray for them, start planting the seeds, and extend an invitation!
