Scripture for the day: “Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”  Psalm 86:11

Grace Received: Last Sunday’s sermon came from Phil. 1:27 – Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”  Paul’s word-pictures in 1:27-28 were vivid. Stand firm, like a soldier who refuses to flee the fight.  Stand/contend together as one – like a team that depends on and supports each other.  Fight fearless. Throughout history, any time God’s people operated out of fear, the outcome wasn’t good. After the service a couple guys who had mistakenly treated each other as opponents instead of teammates made it right.  Conversation led to reconciliation.  Sometimes God’s grace is manifest in our relationship with Him. Sometimes it is most at work in our relationships with each other.   This is amazing grace.
PRAYER TIME AT THE CHURCH THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT 8:00.  Join us as we pray for our community, each other, and for a Spirit-filled service this Sunday.
This Sunday is the first day of our 40-day Engage the Word emphasis. If you haven’t done so already, sign up at  The sermon this Sunday will come from Genesis 4:1-16.
Grace Shared: DON’T DO ANYTHING ALONE. I learned to hunt by going with my dad. I learned how to set a table by watching my mom then doing it (the right way!) under her supervision. I learned how to make a hospital visit by going with my mentor/pastor when I was a young youth pastor.  Discipleship works the same way. We learn how to follow Jesus, teach a class, lead a small group, serve as a greeter, usher, or youth sponsor by walking with each other. So Jesus followers,  who have you invited to walk with you? Serving is great, but it’s even better when we’re mentoring, training, equipping, and encouraging someone else. Don’t do it alone!
I learned at the board meeting Sunday night that one of our Sunday School Classes (Sundaymorning grace-shared group) was asked to pray about a need. They prayed. Then they gave as the Lord put on their heart to give and met the need.  I love these stories!!!!
It’s great to have Tim & Sabrina Bostain, Inez Parker, and Chad & Angela Tafflinger as our newest members at Grace! If you are not a member but would like to explore that further, join us for the next membership class Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9am-noon. Childcare will be provided.
Grace Extended: “What are you doing Sunday at 9:30?” For several weeks Chris posed this question to his neighbor. Chris always followed up with an invitation to come with him to Grace. The first several times he did this his neighbor declined.  A couple weeks ago that neighbor said yes.  There is something to be said for a concern for people that cares enough to be persistent. Maybe you have someone who has repeatedly declined your invitations to come to your church. Don’t stop asking. Maybe this will be the week they join you.
Plan now to extend grace to our neighbors at this year’s Trunk or Treat, Saturday, Oct. 25.
