Scripture for the day: “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” Psalm 105:4

Grace Received: The phrase “God won’t give us more than we can handle” is true in regard to one thing – temptation (see I Corinthians 10:13). Pretty much everything else, I’ve discovered, is fair game for God to allow all kinds of stuff that is more than I can handle. It keeps me mindful how how dependent I am on Him, and that, I think, is a gift of His grace. In dependence, I look to Him for wisdom, direction, correction, and for the strength that the Psalmist writes about in Ps. 105:4. Because He is gracious, you and I are made strong. Because He is gracious, when we seek His face, we find Him – and He finds us.
During the 6 weeks of Lent we are journeying with Jesus to the cross and looking at some of the emotions and experiences Jesus had along the way. As we step into His story, we find Him stepping into ours. The sermon in week 1 of Lent was about doubt. The sermon this Sunday, “Grief”  will come from Matthew 23:37-39.
Grace Shared: I love hearing stories of our people helping each other! Recently there was a small fire in the home of Steven & Sarah Johnson. Steven is deployed and Sarah is holding down the fort and taking care of their two kids. Repairing fire damage was not something she wanted to add to her plate. When some of the men at Grace found out about it, they determined to take action. Men’s ministry leader Derek Cooke will be leading a team of guys who will be making the necessary repairs this week. Love it!
If you are interested in attending the membership class this Saturday from 9-12 please let me know: pastorsteve@clarksvillegrace.org
Grace Extended: Interested in investing in the spiritual life of high school students? You can do that through the youth ministry at Grace! Pastor Patrick would love to hear from you! There are other options as well.  The campus ministry called Young Life is looking for volunteers to help start a work at NWHS in the fall of 2014. Training will be provided this summer and the would love to have college/career age followers of Jesus engaged in this ministry. Our point of contact is Candy Johnson (her husband is the principal at NWHS). If you’d like to know more, you can contact her at 931.920.7955 or go to http://clarksville.younglife.org/Pages/default.aspx
If you’d like to be involved with ministry to athletes at one of our middle or high schools, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is another great way to influence the next generation for Jesus. Our area director is Gary Rankhorn. He can be reached at: grankhorn@fca.org You can also get more info by going to www.fca.org
