Scripture: ” Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:18 (New Living Translation)
Grace Received: This week as we celebrate Thanksgiving, families will gather. Some seats may be empty because of a deployed soldier, deceased loved one, or a new stage in life that makes it impossible to be together as we once were. But one thing that will not be missing is the presence of the God of all grace. The menu in the majority of houses will include turkey, dressing, potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Most will also have some form of bread. It wouldn’t be complete without the bread. Any time we break bread at the family table -be it the one in your house, or the one in our sanctuary – it can be a time of Eucharist (thanksgiving) when we remember Jesus. I hope that amidst the fun and fray of your family gatherings, you don’t miss the opportunity to give thanks for the greatest gift ever given – the gift of life in Christ.
This coming Sunday we begin our “ADVENTure” Series. The next 4 weeks we will be re-visiting some of the great stories from our family-of-faith heritage, The story is not new but we will find new ways to tell it, new ways to enjoy it, and with the Spirit’s help, new ways to experience and appreciate it. I look forward to seeing you there!!
Thanks Joe Voight for bringing a great word last week for Christ the King Sunday! It will be fun coming up with a way to “thank” you for the wig picture .
Grace Shared: We have a few families at Grace who are in need of being ‘adopted’ for Christmas. If you, your Grace-Shared Group, or Sunday School class would like to bless another family by providing gifts, please notify Brenda in the office: brenda@
Grace Extended: Don’t forget about the Flash Mob this Friday at Governor’s Square Mall. The door is wide open for us to proclaim Jesus in a compelling, loving, and winsome way by sharing songs and sights that focus the attention of the Christ of Christmas. Please join us!
Sign-ups are taking place in the foyer for Christmas on the Cumberland and the Drive Thru Nativity. There is much to do and no matter how much time or what level expertise you have to offer, we have a place for you to be involved. Let’s make the most of every opportunity!!
