Grace Weekly | June 5, 2013
Scripture: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:7-8a
Grace Received: I could feel the excitement in his voice. “It is June 4, 2013 and I accepted Jesus as my Savior today.I couldn’t put it off any longer. I knew God was there for me and I had to do it.” That’s the phone call I received last night from Nate Moore, Sr. For years his wife and many other friends have prayed for that day to come. That day came yesterday and it wasn’t in a church service, sanctuary or chapel. God, in His great love, continued the relentless pursuit of this man because that’s the kind of God He is. If you don’t yet know HIm as Savior I believe He’s pursuing you today as well and there is no need to wait even one more minute. Accept His mercy and forgiveness now. Do it today!
We rejoiced for a few minutes and at the end of our conversation Nate said, “Keep praying for me. I know it’s not going to be easy but I’m going to live for God from now on.” I’m confident that God’s grace will see Him through!
Grace Shared: Thank you for praying for Janet Hall who had surgery last week, and Kim Slight who had double hip replacement surgery yesterday. Both are doing well! Kim is already walking and doing great. Continue to remember her as she has a lot of rehab ahead. Pray also for Angie McGhee and her family. Her 24 year old step-brother passed away yesterday morning.
Don’t forget to pray for our Sr. High group that is at camp this week.
Happy Anniversary last week to Brad & Christy Houston (18 yrs), David and Pat Wright (45 years) and Clay & Sara Smith (7 yrs).
Grace Extended: Last week I had an incredibly encouraging conversation with Ken Adams. Two different opportunities were presented to share Jesus and he seized them. One was with a boy who plays on the baseball team Ken coaches. On the ride home from practice the conversation turned to God. The boy shared that he felt God drawing him last summer at VBS but he did not respond. Between the ball field and the boy’s house they had a conversation with God and resistance became acceptance. Praise the Lord!
That same week God opened the door for a conversation with a neighbor. It didn’t result in a commitment to Christ but it was definitely one in which some seeds were planted. God gave Ken good sense to see that this was an opportunity for him to witness. God gave him the words to say, and the boldness to say them. The opportunity was given and he made the most of it. I pray that ALL of us have some opportunities to extend God’s grace to others TODAY and that we don’t miss it.
