Scripture for the day: “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.  And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Grace Received: We are convinced that the message of life in Jesus if for ALL people. Christ died and was raised again not just for a few, but for ALL. We didn’t ask Him to do it. We certainly didn’t deserve this divine act of merciful provision. Driven by love, He took the initiative and we are brought into right relationship with God by grace – sheer gift. Unearned. Undeserved. Yet lavishly given for ALL.  I want to remind you today that YOU are included in that “all.”  He loves YOU. Gave himself for YOU. Died and was raised again for YOU. Thank Him. Praise Him. Worship Him. Honor Him. Compelled by love, live for Him today.
Grace Shared: At yesterday’s pizza with those who are new to Grace one of our couples shared that their first Sunday here they asked one of our greeters (Ann Hunt) where would be a good place to buy Bibles. When they came back the next Sunday, there were 2 brand new Bibles ready for them (thanks to Ann!). Ann didn’t do that because it was part of her “job” as a greeter. This was a gracious response to a known need. It was one of those moments that went unnoticed and unknown by the rest of us, but left a big impression on their hearts and minds. It gave an immediate indication of the kind of community we have, and are trying to form more fully at Grace. I love it! Compelled by the love of Christ, we are responsive to one another and it’s a beautiful thing. May God continue to form us in a place where sharing grace is contagious!
Grace Extended: Last week Maddie, who is in our children’s department at Grace, had a birthday. Rather than have her friends bring her gifts, she requested that the kids she invited to her party bring shoes instead. Maddie was compelled to do something for other kids who are less fortunate and God put Haitian kids on her heart. 18 pair of shoes were collected at her party and will be sent to Haiti. She is learning at a tender age how to hear and respond to God’s voice and it is resulting in a lifestyle of compassionate action for the sake of others. Awesome!
We begin helping with Room in the Inn this Friday night, providing dinner and hosting a group of homeless folks for the evening.  Most of the RITI nights have been scheduled with a Grace-Shared Group that is taking care of things, but we could use some help this week.
