Scripture for the day: “Those who have knowledge use words with restraint, and those who have understanding are even-tempered.  Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.” Prov. 17:27-28

Grace Received: As with most Protestant churches we recognize 2 sacraments in the Church of the Nazarene – baptism (sacrament of initiation) and communion (sacrament of continuation).  Yesterday morning was a holy time as 9 men/boys were baptized into the Christian faith. Their testimonies were powerful and it was beautiful to see fathers baptized, then assisting in the baptisms of their sons. God is continuously drawing people to Himself and we rejoice in the salvation and baptism of:

Donovan Bowles
Mitch Bowles
Gabriel Dangerfield
Michael Dangerfield
Curtis Karr
Preston Fields
Vincent Garcia
Harley Sager
Jeff Vernon
We also celebrate the 6 young men on the Rossview High School football team who found life in Christ at last Friday’s team chapel!
On Oct. 1 we will join thousands of other Nazarenes in a 40 day Bible reading emphasis called “Engage the Word.” To have the daily scriptures sent to your e-mail address or smart phone, register at Click on “Register,” then “Individual” and follow the directions – it just takes a minute.
Starting Sunday, Oct. 7th we will be suspending the 8:00 service. Presently, we have room to grow at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services so we will take a break until the 8:00 is again a necessity (which it will be!).
Grace Shared: I love hearing about Bible study groups that have been meeting together in someone’s home that I didn’t know about. I heard about another one of those yesterday and was thrilled! It’ a joy to see people making an intentional effort to invest not only in their relationship with God, but in their relationships with each other. We have a wide variety of opportunities for EVERYONE to participate in a Grace Shared Group. They meet on Sunday mornings (age-specific for children and teens, and many options for adults), in homes twice a month (typically on a Sunday night), at coffee shops through the week, etc.  Our expectation for every person at Grace is involvement in at least 1 Grace Shared Group. You can get more information about this at the new display in our foyer. Be intentional. Invest. Let us help you find where you fit!

Sr. Highers will have a cook-out this Sunday nightfrom 5-7 at Mike & Pam Borgman’s (425 Port Royal Road) . If you have any questions, contact Mike at (931) 801-0432.

Grace Extended: We are still calculating the total but it looks like our pledges and offerings yesterday for Faith Promise were right at the $40,000 mark. Praise the Lord!!! It was exciting to hear Brian Helstrom from Jesus Film/Harvest Partners share about the great success the 449 Jesus film teams in the Church of the Nazarene are having with evangelizing difficult world areas and planting new churches. Innovative methods, advances in technology and the unwavering commitment of our Nazarene brothers and sisters are resulting in thousands of people around the world coming to faith in Christ. I was so proud to be a Nazarene when I heard about the dauntless efforts of our people

Don’t forget the 1% of unchurched people we are trying to reach right here in Clarksville. The latest statistics are that 87% of our city is unchurched. That means well over 100,000 people in Clarksville need to get connected with Christ and a local church. So how do we reach them? INVITE THEM. For many people, all it will take is an invitation. Pray about it and see who God might want you to reach out to this week. Ask them to come to church with you this Sunday. Better yet, invite them to join you for Sunday dinner as well so that you can build the relationship and further the conversation. I already have an idea of who I am supposed to invite and will be looking for that opportunity, which I know will come. I hope you will do the same!
