Scripture for the day: “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:36-38

Grace Received: Two weeks ago a young soldier named Chris came to Grace for the first time. Prior to that it had been more than 4 years since he stepped foot in any church. In spite of the upbringing he had and the influence of strong Christians in his family, Chris had never come to terms with his own need for a relationship with Jesus. That changed last Sunday! During the 11:00 service Chris came forward, knelt at the altar, accepted God’s gracious offer of forgiveness, and began the new adventure called a life of following Jesus. Thank God for saving grace!
Grace Shared: In just a few weeks we will be launching our newly organized “Grace Shared Groups.” This will encompass all of what has formerly been called Sunday School, 2:42 Groups, Ladies and Men’s Bible Studies, and accountability groups. You will have an opportunity to choose which option(s) best fit where you are in your journey with Jesus, and you will have a lot of options! We will still have a variety of venues – Sunday morning, Saturday groups, home-based groups, same-gender groups, etc. but what we are looking for is 100% participation in a Grace Shared Group where each of us is involved in intentional, disciple-making relationships with other believers. Check out the information and options in the foyer. Sign-ups will start Aug. 26th.

Grace Extended: Sunday, Aug. 26 will be FRIEND DAY. It’s a perfect opportunity for you to invite a friend (or two) who is unchurched (we’re not interested in recruiting Christians from other churches, we’re intentionally looking for part of the 87% of our city who are unchurched). Invite them to come to church with you and then bring them home for dinner. Be hospitable. Show them the love of Jesus. Make it hard for them to say no to your invitation. PRAY that God would speak to them and prepare them for an encounter with Him. Pray for yourself, that God would give you courage and boldness. Pray for the service on the 26th that God’s Spirit will draw everyone here to the heart of the Father, and come expecting!

Coming Up:
Aug. 22 – Children’s Quizzing begins (studying the book of Acts)
Aug. 26 – Friend Day
Sept. 16 – Christopher Yuan at Grace
Oct. 7-10 Revival with David Gallimore
