Grace Weekly- May 1, 2012
Scripture for the day: “if my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”II Chronicles 7:14
Grace Received: The first Thursday in May (day after tomorrow) is the National Day of Prayer. The Clarksville Area Ministerial Association is sponsoring times for our city to pray together from noon-1 at Civic Hall (on Pageant Lane, in same complex as the library) and a concert of prayer from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to join with fellow believers from all over the city to intercede for our nation. I encourage you to participate even if you can just come for a few minutes.
We’ll be doing a new song this Sunday to begin the service. It may be helpful for you to give it a listen between now and then: Here For You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Grace Shared: Congratulations to children’s quizzers Michael Nash, Alicia Getty, Ruby Maghoney, and Matthew. Sudbury who made it all the way to the Southeast Regional quiz in Atlanta! They finished 5th out of 26 teams. Way to go!!!
Special thanks to all who contributed to the offering for Ashley, whose story I shared last Sunday. I learned between 2nd and 3rd service that the Tuesday morning ladies Bible study planned to bless her today with gift cards and baby items so we announced the opportunity for the 11:00 service to participate as well. Your generosity was incredible and over $1,100 was given Sunday in the 11:00 service. It came at a perfect time to meet her at a point of need and was a tremendous encouragement. Thank you for sharing the grace of God in such tangible ways!
Beginning May 6th, Matt Slight will begin a new Sunday school class for adults. This class will meet at 10:45 in room A2. He will be teaching from the book, “A Tale of Three Kings: A Study in Brokenness.”If you’ve not been attending a Sunday School class this would be a great time to start!
Grace Extended: The last couple of weeks have been humorous at announcement time because there is so much going on this Saturday. Most of what we announced were opportunities to extend grace and I hope you’ll take advantage of at least one of these opportunities:
Great American Clean-up – a chance to serve our city by picking up trash – meet at the City Hall at 8:00 a.m.
Walk for Life – for Hope Pregnancy Center, walk starts at 9:00 a.m.
Safe Driving Class – we are hosting this for the Clarksville Police Department’s program for 15-19 year olds and will have 60+ teens from the community at Grace this Saturday from 9-1. If you’d like to be there to show some hospitality, contact Pastor Patrick by calling the church office.
Write injuries in sand, kindnesses in marble.
