The Outreach Ministries of the Body of Christ

This is a look at the individual gifts and how they may be focused on the outreach ministries.

Three Levels of Ministries. Role, Body Life and Leadership Ministries.

Five Groups that your gifts fall into.

The facilitating gifts.

    - Leadership keeps an eye on the goals and priorities to make sure that the Church does not just function as an end to itself. Is it fulfilling The Great Commission? It makes plans in that direction, checks results, then modifies the plans if necessary, to make sure the Church does make disciples and ministers to people in need. Diligence marks the adequate functioning of this gift.

Administration works for the coordination and fulfilling of the outreach plans of the Church. When they bog down or go astray, it finds out what is wrong and helps to get things going again so that the Church does not slip into a static state .It tries to see ahead and help provide for the future.

Teaching keeps training programs going so that people’s gifts may be developed to full participation in the outreach ministries that they are called to. Teaching may also be directly involved in training people to help with physical and social needs and/or evangelism by helping people learn the content of the Gospel. The test of true teaching is that people respond and learn .

Giving can obviously make many things possible. The hallmark of giving as a spiritual gift is that it is done generously .

    The ministering gifts.

      -  Serving, encouraging, mercy, helping, and pastoral care are all ministering gifts. They may also be called Compassionate Ministries. They are directed more at physical and social needs. The difference between the serving gift and the helping gift is that serving is more general and helping is more    personal . Serving is the ability to see needs and meet them, while helping is the ability for making it possible or easier for other people to fulfill their tasks.

Mercy, or compassion demonstrates the tenderness and sensitivity of Christian love and gives people a taste of koinonia fellowship that is found in the circle of love of the Church.

Pastoral care is the sense of responsibility that a person has for keeping track of people and their needs, joys , and sorrows, and for finding an appropriate way to respond to those needs. It is not exclusive or unique to pastors of Churches some laymen have this gift also.

      -  Read Ephesians 4:11
