The Gifts of the Spirit
Finding Your Ministry:
A study of the fruit and gifts of the Spirit
By
Raymond W. Hurn
Goals: 1. To look at ourselves—-the Church, the Body of Christ.
Some key verses:
-Romans 12:6
-Ephesians 4:11-16
-Galatians 2:20
-1 Corinthians 12:1,4-5
Practical Ignorance: 1 Corinthians 12:1
Why do we need to even know what our gift or gifts are?
The Gift of the Holy Spirit, Himself. John16:5-16, Acts 2:38
Why the need for any study, let alone a study on Spiritual Gifts?
Donald Guy, The Roseburg Church
Keeping Goals in Mind
“Let us not be content in any church unless we are making “disciples.” if we are not making disciples. There is all the more need to look with keen evaluation in three directions.”
Ourselves: hard? easy? Mentoring, being mentored
The harvest: How much of it is there?
-How responsive is the harvest?
A 1978 Gallup Poll
61,000,000 Americans are not members of any church or religious institution.
Of these—
76% say they sometimes pray to God.
74% want their children to receive religious instruction.
68% believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
52% would be open to an invitation to attend church
-What does or harvest look like?
-John 4:35
Our work force:
-How are the people of “our” church being discipled?
-How are they being trained?
-How are we being deployed to reach the goal?
Is there any Biblical basis for no growth? There is Biblical support for rapid growth (Acts 2:47; 6:1)

Answer 20 questions in the six categories A, B, C, D, E, F. Score yourself a 0 if you do not experience the particular statement in your own life. Score yourself as high as 5 if the statement in each category represents a high degree of intensity or frequency of experience. If it is not a real high degree of intensity or frequency, you may want to score yourself a 2, 3, or 4. Be practical and pragmatic with each question.
Record the score in each column of the Score Sheet. If you do not understand the process, ask help from your instructor.
When you have answered each question, total the score on each line, showing the total score for A, B, C, D, E, and F in the proper place.
Circle the three highest total scores. Put a check mark beside the next three highest scores.
When you have finished, the instructor will give you the Spiritual Gifts to fill in the 20 blanks to the left on your score sheet.
