See to it that no one misses the grace of God…
Verse for the week: “See to it that no one misses the grace of God…” Hebrews 12:15
It’s all about grace:
Grace received – as we connect with God
Grace shared – as we connect with each other
Grace extended – as we connect with our community
In the last few lines of the movie “Secondhand Lions” (one of my favorites), nephew Walter is asked a question about his 90 year old uncles who have just flown an airplane upside down into a barn. (They didn’t have licenses to fly and it was a fitting way for these adventurers to go out – ‘with their boots on.’) The question was from a little boy who had heard stories about them and didn’t know whether or not to believe these were real men. He said to Walter, “They really lived?” Walter’s answer was “Oh yes, they really lived.”
This weekend we have an opportunity to tell the story of Jesus’ birth to thousands of people at Christmas on the Cumberland. Many of the people we encounter there are existing but they’re not really living… yet On Sunday morning, the children of Grace are going to tell the story again. There will be people here who are existing but they’re not really living… yet. As we celebrate the Savior’s birth, we do so with the Cross casting a shadow on the manger. The reason the baby came was so that the world might be saved. He was born to die so that we might live – really live. Please pray and participate however you can as we seek to share this life-giving Jesus with a world that isn’t really living… yet. May this weekend result in many others coming to experience the life-giving grace of God through the people of Grace. See to it that no one misses the grace of God…
