“I hope somebody gets saved today.”

Verse for the week: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

It’s all about grace:

Grace received – as we connect with God

Grace shared – as we connect with each other

Grace extended – as we connect with our community

“I hope somebody gets saved today.” These were the words of a 10 year old boy yesterday morning before services.  At 10 years old he gets it. He gets it that people need Jesus, and that he had a role to play in something bigger than a Christmas program – he had a role in helping share the Gospel, which has the power to transform people’s lives.  While he wouldn’t use these words, he gets it that the grace of God is something we were meant not just to enjoy ourselves, but to extend to others. I was reminded by this boy’s comment that maturity in the faith isn’t determined by age.  Immature Christians have a posture that is always turned inward.  Mature Christians spend time dealing with their personal relationship with Jesus on a consistent (like every day) basis, but it doesn’t stop there with a look inward.  It always moves outward, with a care, concern, and compassion for others that compels us to play whatever part God has given us in getting the gospel out.   We are going to be doing a lot of that at Grace this week, but it’s not just going to happen on our campus at the drive-thru nativity. It’s going to happen in classrooms, coffee shops, on construction sites, in office cubicles and everywhere else Grace Nazarenes are engaged in extending the Grace of God to others.  It’s not Sunday but it doesn’t have to be for the grace of God to flow to us and through us -  “I hope somebody gets saved today.”
